You will need:

  • A piece of Palo Santo wood

  • A fireproof bowl or incense burner

  • Optional: a feather or your hand to guide the smoke


How to Perform the Ritual:

  1. Prepare your space:Choose a comfortable spot. Open a window or door to allow negative energies to leave the space.

  2. Light the Palo Santo:Hold the wood at an angle and light one end. Let it burn briefly, then gently blow out the flame so the wood begins to smolder and produce smoke.

  3. Cleanse your space or yourself:Hold the smoldering wood over the bowl and slowly move through the room, directing the smoke into every corner to clear stagnant or negative energy. If you want to cleanse yourself, wave the smoke gently around your body, starting at your head and moving downward to your feet.

  4. Set an intention:While cleansing, speak or think an intention, such as:“With this sacred smoke, I cleanse this space/my mind of all negativity. May peace, harmony, and light enter.”

  5. Let the Palo Santo extinguish:Once the ritual is complete, place the wood in the fireproof bowl and allow it to safely extinguish. You can reuse it for future rituals.
